This event gives you an overview of Mercari and its engineering organization, as well as presentation of the future of the Mercari engineering organization from our CTO Namura Suguru. Currently around 40% of the engineering organization at Mercari are international engineers and with our diverse team, we are striving to change the way that people exchange value, in order to create a society where everyone can share resources and do the things they like. After joining Cyber Agent, Inc. in 2004, Namura worked on launching new services including Ameba Pigg, AWA, and AbemaTV. He joined Mercari in July 2016, and after leading development of the US version of Mercari, he took on the position of CTO in April 2017.
Carlos Donderis is currently an engineering manager for Mercari’s JP Backend Team. He has worked in Europe and Latin America, in addition to Tokyo, Japan, where he has spent the past nine years. He has been primarily involved with web- and architecture-related technologies. You can follow him at @Cads
Matthew Gillingham is currently an Engineering Manager for the Mercari Mobile Team. He has worked in Tokyo, Japan for over 10 years as a full stack developer, on projects such as an augmented reality social network, video games, and REST or GraphQL-based web services. This meetup will be held at the Mercari Tokyo office (Roppongi Hills, Mori Tower 18F). On the day of the event, find the MercariDev reception on the Lower Lobby of Mori Tower, they will check-in guests and instruct you on how to go to the 18F. Please bring a business card to facilitate the check-in. Make sure to RSVP to the event on google forms as guest names will be checked for security purposes.
